Richard Stanley is an East Texas native growing up in Longview where he attended Spring Hill schools K-12. After graduating in 1991, he attended Kilgore College, where he obtained an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice. Richard began his career in law enforcement in 1995, serving at Lakeport Police Department from 1995-1999, then Kilgore Police Department from 1999-2020. During his time at KPD, he served in many capacities including Patrol, Honor Guard, and School Resource Officer. Richard, best known as Officer Stanley, dedicated nearly 19 years to the Kilgore schools until he retired in 2020. Richard was elected as Rusk County Precinct 1 Constable where he is still serving.
Richard is a third-generation US military veteran who served in the United States Navy Reserves for eight years, and he is a Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Richard has been married for over 27 years and has one daughter and 3 grandsons. Richard has lived in Kilgore for over 22 years and has a small farm in Laird Hill. He has 3 dogs, two are rescues, and 3 cats, all rescues. Richard enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially the grandsons. He enjoys traveling near and far when not working on the farm with his many animals. Richard is an active member of Bar None Cowboy Church and Kilgore Lions Club.
