Comanche Flats Ranch is a 355-acre property located just 10 minutes outside of Lockhart, Texas, which is rich in Texas history. This is the area where Edward Burleson and his Texas Rangers, led by Major General Felix Huston, fought the Comanche Indians at the Battle of Plum Creek in a campaign to reclaim the Republic of Texas. The ranch is full of Texas history, Indian artifacts, and native wildlife. The property has electricity and water to a secluded cabin, road frontage, panoramic hilltop homesites, and fertile native bottomland. The topography of the ranch ranges from 460 ft above sea level to 390 ft above sea level. There are miles of interior trails that create access across the landscape. There is also a barn with community water and a water well. Approximately 134 acres within the FEMA floodplain have been protected by a conservation easement to restore the native bottomland to pre-European settlement conditions. Native grasses and trees are being planted, and streams put back in their original channels. The balance of the land can be used for raising cattle, hay or wildlife or building.
